If you are enrolled in an eligible Georgia high school, you may qualify to participate in the Dual Enrollment program. Georgia's Dual Enrollment program provides eligible high school students the opportunity to enroll in college or university prior to their high school graduation and to take courses which result in both college and high school credit. Tuition, books and mandatory fees are paid for by the Dual Enrollment program. Students participating in the program are not permitted to live in the residence halls. 

You may supplement and enhance your high school curriculum by enrolling in college courses as a joint enrollment student. Courses taken through joint enrollment result in college but not high school credit. You are responsible for your tuition, books, course-related fees and all mandatory fees. If you wish to attend as a joint enrollment student, you must meet the Dual Enrollment program requirements. Students participating in joint enrollment are not permitted to live in the residence halls.

• You must be entering your junior or senior year of high school at the time of enrollment.
• Evidence in the transcript that student is on track towards the completion of the USG RHSC requirements and high school graduation.
• You must be enrolled in an eligible public or private high school, including unaccredited home study or home school program. Students in unaccredited home school programs must also submit a homeschool summary form: Home School Summary Form (PDF) and a homeschool portfolio. If you enrolled in any college coursework, request the college to send an official transcript. 
• You must present a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher in your coursework.
• You must take courses from the . If you are an out-of-state student, you should consult with your guidance counselor on courses you may take at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ that will count toward high school graduation.
• Applicants who have completed dual enrollment through another institution should have a 2.50 Cumulative GPA on all College Dual Enrollment coursework attempted.
• Cadets must be at least 17 years of age at the time of enrollment.

Consider applying for ¹û¶³´«Ã½’s Honors Program if your GPA is a least 3.5 and standardized test scores meet one of the following:

• Evidence Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math score on the new SAT of at least 1200
• Combined critical reading and math score on the old SAT of at least 1150
• ACT composite score of at least 25

Want to get a head start in your language learning journey? Apply for the Summer Language Institutes (SLI). SLI are carefully tailored, residential language programs of study in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Russian. By successfully completing this six-week summer session, SLI participants earn 8 academic credit hours to fulfill the foreign language required for most bachelor’s degrees at ¹û¶³´«Ã½.

• The Dual Enrollment program will pay the standard tuition rate for bachelor's degree courses at ¹û¶³´«Ã½. 
• ¹û¶³´«Ã½ waives all mandatory ¹û¶³´«Ã½ fees for Dual Enrollment program students.
• The Dual Enrollment program will pay for your books.
• You will pay any course-specific fees, such as lab fees.
• The credit hours for which you receive Dual Enrollment program funding will not be included in the HOPE scholarship combined paid-hours limit.

You may start as a dual enrollment student in a bachelor's degree program on any campus or online: Blue Ridge, Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville or Oconee. You are not guaranteed a class schedule at particular times or locations.

Deadlines

Q: I won't receive my SAT/ACT scores until after the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ application deadline. What happens now?
A: You have the option to take the Accuplacer in-person on our Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, and Gainesville Campuses or on-line virtually. The exams are offered weekly. Note that scores from Accuplacer exams are only good for one year at our institution. Refer to our University Testing Center website for detailed information. Or, if you have PSAT/PACT scores, your high school counselor can submit your PSAT or PACT scores at the following email address: PSAT@ung.edu.

Q: Where will the college course credit I earn transfer?
A:  To most four-year colleges and universities.

Q: What courses are available for me to take?
A: Any courses to which , and for which you meet the course prerequisites.  Please note that the Dual Enrollment program will only pay for courses from the .

Q: After I graduate from high school, how do I become a student at ¹û¶³´«Ã½?
A: To continue at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ after high school graduation, you must complete a by the specified deadline date for the term and campus you wish to be considered. You do not need to complete a new application for admission or submit an application fee. Please note that admission to a bachelor’s degree program is highly competitive and that admission is based on that year’s applicant pool. If you are ineligible for a bachelor’s degree program, you will automatically be considered for the associate degree pathway with the opportunity to internally transfer to a bachelor’s degree program at a later time.

Q: How do I schedule my classes?
A: You work with your high school guidance counselor and your ¹û¶³´«Ã½ dual enrollment advisor.

Q: How many courses can I take?
A: You may take as many courses as you like; however, Dual Enrollment program will pay for up to 30 credit hours.

Q: Do my dual enrollment courses count against my HOPE scholarship cap after I graduate from high school?
A: No. HOPE covers 127 credit hours for bachelor's degree students and 90 credit hours for associate degree students.  The courses you take while dual enrolled will not reduce your cap.

Q: Can I dual enroll in the Dual Enrollment program at more than one college/university simultaneously?
A: Yes. You must apply for admission to each institution and submit a separate  for each institution. Dual Enrollment program will pay for mandatory fees, tuition and books at each institution.

Q: Are dual-enrollment students allowed to live on campus?
A: No, students participating in dual-enrollment at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ are not eligible to live in the residence halls.
